How We Can Help You With Your Scooter Insurance
As an independent insurance agency, we offer the same price as online “direct” insurance companies like Progressive (we actually represent Progressive). Also, because we are independent, we offer a wide variety of options compared with some agencies or representatives who only represent 1 company. Our business is ran by the owners of the agency and we are here in Austin. You can come by our office, call us, or do almost everything via email. We firmly believe we are your best option for your Austin Scooter insurance needs.
What is Scooter insurance
A scooter can be a great means of transportation. It’s always easy to find parking and you will never spend very much at the gas pump. Getting insurance for your scooter can be very affordable as well. When you contact an agent for a scooter insurance quote be sure to have the following information handy:
- Name and Date of Birth: we will need this for anyone who will operate the vehicle on a regular basis.
- Year make and model of the scooter
- Size: How many CC’s is the motor
Next you will want to discuss what coverage you need. Keep in mind with all of the new brands being imported to the U.S. it is impossible to determine the value and cost of repair on each new model. Because of this not all scooters will be eligible for physical damage coverage like comprehensive and collision. Contact us and we will be able to tell you what coverage is available for your scooter.
Scooter Insurance Coverage
Liability: Just like with your auto insurance policy this covers the bodily injury and property damage (BI/PD) you cause to others. Texas requires you have a minimum of $30,000 in BI per person, $60,000 per accident and $25,000 in PD. Even though Texas only requires 30/60/25 it’s a good idea to increase your limits so you don’t end up having to pay anything out of your own pocket in the even t of an at fault accident.
Uninsured Motorist / Under Insured Motorist: If you are hit by a driver who flees the scene of the accident or does not have insurance UM steps in and pays for your damages in place of the at fault drivers absent liability coverage.
Personal Injury Protection (PIP): you and your passengers are covered up to the policy limit you select for medical expenses arising from a covered accident.
Comprehensive and Collision: collision covers damage to your caused by an accident. Comprehensive (other than collision) covers physical damage to your vehicle that is caused by something other than a collision. If you bike is damaged by a hail storm, a tree falling on it or if it is stolen, comprehensive will cover you. This coverage may not be available for all scooters.
Roadside Assistance / towing and labor: depending on what insurance company you are with they will either have a roadside assistance program to send a tow or a reimbursement for the tow that you got on your own.
Accessory Coverage: Covers aftermarket parts you have added to your motorcycle. with Progressive $3000 is already included with comp and collision.
